Exterior WoodSavers Services

Exterior WoodSavers believes the beauty and durability of any sealant job depends on the quality of the stain and the proper surface preparation. To accomplish this, wood must be properly cured, restored, dried and sealed.

Curing

Most new wood should be allowed to cure for 3-5 weeks to bring the moisture content down to an acceptable level, which allows the pores to open and the Exterior WoodSaver Sealant to penetrate the wood for a better quality seal. However, you should never wait longer than three months to seal due to the damage outside elements can do to your wood. Redwoods, such as Cedar, should be sealed within 5-6 weeks.

Restoration

If you haven’t had your fence sealed and it has taken on a grayish cast, it can still be restored. In this case we use a water-based solution in which the main ingredient is sodium hypochlorite (a strong oxidizing agent) to remove the dirt, fungus, mold and mildew that is trapped below the wood’s surface. The wood is then allowed to dry for 48-72 hours before our special Huemiller Superior Wood Stain and Sealant is applied.

Sealant

This is a 2-3 coat wet-on-wet process that is applied using an airless spray pump system.

We provide stain and sealant on outdoor wood structures including:

  • Fences
  • Arbors
  • Decks
  • Gazebos
  • Shutters
  • Garage Doors
  • Playsets
